Ran 5 miles after work today. That's one more mile than I ran yesterday. Good for me, eh? Sure, but what would life be without intellectual tail-chasing? Not as much fun to read about, that's for damn sure. Let's begin:
4 miles ran in a little over 35 minutes yesterday; 5 miles in a little over 44 tonight. What changed in less than 24-hours?
Did I find a warrior spirit within, delving deep within some primal recess, tapping into some unbidden river of courage and steady-eyed determination?
Did I, like some mountaintop yogi or eastern buddhavista steady my inner spiritual ying to my outer physical yang by aligning my chi or chai or my furniture or something?
Did I summon up images of my American fore-fathers bolding plowing headlong into history with the proud determination of a headstrong and independant nation that would unleash the world-shaking powers of democratic republicanism, recklessly unfettered capitalism, and the McDouble?
No, I decided that if I could run 4 miles that I could probably run 5.
I could and that extra mile took less time to complete than this blog.
There's probably something to be said for that, but I'll be damned if I have a convoluted mental image to convey it right now.
Maybe next time.
